Jumpin’ Joe Ballard joined the Harlem Globetrotters as part of the team’s 2016 rookie class. The 6-foot-5 forward from Dayton, Ohio is known in his home state as one of the most prolific dunkers around.
Ballard first earned notoriety for his athleticism when he attended Thurgood Marshall High School in Dayton where ran track and played basketball. His freshman and junior years he lead the Cougars to the Ohio state basketball finals. He also represented his track team in the state finals his senior year, running the 400-meter race with a time of 48.68 seconds.
After graduating from Thurgood Marshall, he went on to attend Glenville State College in West Virginia where he averaged 7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6 assists per game during the 2012-2013 season.
Ballard grew his dunking persona on social media after leaving Glenville State College and became one of the stars of the YouTube dunking circuit. His dunk videos have earned thousands of views online.
He sports a 52-inch running vertical and a 79-inch wingspan. When he’s not playing basketball, Ballard enjoys going bowling and watching his favorite NBA basketball team – the Cleveland Cavaliers. If he could learn something new, he would like to pick up golf.
